Try High Tea at Raffles, or Compass Rose at the top of the Western Stamford Hotel.

For history buffs – try the history museum at Sentosa for an excellent diarama of Singaporian history including the Second World War in Singapore. Similarly a visit to the Battle Box Museum (the British WW2 command centre) in central Singapore is very worth while.

If you're in Singapore for a couple of days & don't want to do the usual "touristy" things, pop in over at the" Singapore Airlines Flying Club". It's a little club that's located in Seletar Airport (that's right - Seletar - not Changi) & they welcome visitors. Their time is spent conducting training for the PPL, & these students  come from all walks of life - not just SIA employees as the name of the Club might suggest. Visitors are welcome, there's a little bar corner for flying talk & the like. And if you're a flier, you're welcome to join for a day membership & the guys will be glad to arrange a short flight around, aircraft availability permitting.

Ritz Carlton: Reception area - reserve lounge seating for 4 or more.

Downtown: Lau Pasat (near Raffles Place)
Orchard Rd: Basement of Tanglin Centre (airconditioned).
East Coast: Opposite Bayshore.

Lunch (approx $25 to $35 per person plus drinks)
Duxford: near the Duxford Hotel (separate to their main restaurant).
Fosters: in Orchard Road opposite the Hilton and downstairs.
ShangriLa: adjacent to reception (share Chinese style small dishes).
Patra: Excelent Thai cuisine at Tanglin Centre and Raffles Centre.
Spagedis: Good value family restaurants at a number of locations.

Dinner (or lunch)
Saffra Resort: near the airport - a crew favourite and great value.
Hyatt Mezza9: central Orchard Rd - highly recommended for an unusual up-market dinning experience. Top quality cuisine presented in a unique oriental ambience with nine different kitchens working open style in the one restaurant. Expect to pay around $45 to $60 per person, not including selection from their extensive wine cellar.
