is located beside Canada Place on a Pier near the main train station and looks over the downtown area / Stanley Park/ West End / Burrard Inlet & North Vancouver / or East towards China town and Burnaby…..depending on which way your room faces.

is 5 to 10 minutes south - south west centering near Granville and Georgia. There is a big underground shopping area as well (not personally familiar with it)

famous walking street with many choices of restaurants and bars etc. Approx 10 min walk along Powell st (east)

East and South around Hastings & Main st.

The Waterfront terminal is 2 mins from the hotel lobby and runs all the way out to Surrey via Burnaby and New Westminster. The Metrotown stop is one of largest shopping centers in western Canada. New Westminister stop has great shopping and eating areas right along the banks of the Fraser river (the same river which runs by the airport although there are more than one arm to the river). Further on is the Surrey shopping center which also (I am told) has good shopping.

Back closer to the hotel but on the Skytrain route is BC Place (CFL BC Lions), GM Place (NHL - Vancouver Canucks & NBA-Grizzlies)

is a continuing of the Skytrain and departs also from the Waterfront station (right near the hotel) and goes across Burrard Inlet to North Vancouver at the base of Lonsdale Ave. There is good eating & shopping places there. One recommendation: The Keg which is a surf and turf (steak & Lobster/crayfish) which is part of a famous chain and popular as a family restaurant.

There is also a bus terminal where you get off the Seabus where you can get a bus to either Grouse Mountain or the Capilano Suspension bridge. (again, I have not personally done this)

again about a 10 min walk to the entrance where you will find the Zoo and Lumbermans Park. If you plan to circumvent the park you will need to rent a bike (available near the entrance) or go by car. On the north side is of course the Lions Gate Bridge ( The Lions are 3 mountain peaks to the north which you can see from the hotel that are close together. You also see them on the way to Whistler.) To the south is English Bay, a popular place in the summer time.

Just off the Granville Island bridge in False creek is a very popular dinning and shopping area.

You can buy a daily travel pass which is good on all public buses, Seabus and Skytrain

Should you be interested in this, it can be done in one day but is quite rushed. The catch is getting on the ferries which are extensions of the Trans Canada Highway. On holidays or weekends the waiting times can be up to 2 hours so get some info on that pror to departing.

Suggested routing: do a clockwise route via the Tsawwassen ferry in Delta (go south past the Vancouver Airport) to Schwartz Bay (Sidney BC)(Victoria Airport). From there it’s about 30 mins into Victoria, the capital of British Columbia (not Vancouver) and is a carry over of Jolly Old!!!!

Must see a)the Parliament buildings b) the Royal Museum (be sure to go to the top floor and work down) c) Empress hotel with a favorite eating place called the Elephant & Castle & d) Pacific Rim Park along the ocean where on a clear day you can see the State of Washington USA.

Leaving Victoria heading north will take you past the Butchart Gardens which is a do not miss. Heading towards Nanimo keep a look out for the famous Cowachin Indian sweaters. Also, near Ladysmith

Nanimo is where you will catch the ferry to Horseshoe Bay however ,if you have the time, the drive up to Campbell River is very nice. Campbell River is well known for Salmon fishing.

After arriving at Horseshoe Bay you will pick up the same highway to Vancouver as you would if you were returning from Whistler. The Boat House Restaurant is a lovely setting for dinner in Horseshoe Bay whether your getting on or off the ferry or just driving back from Whistler.

Well, everyone has probably heard about one of the most popular ski resorts in North America but there is more to do there than just ski. It’s definitely worth the drive at any time of the year. Two waterfalls which stand out are the Brandywine Falls (just before arriving in Whistler) and the Nairn Falls (about 15 minutes past Whistler)

If your real adventuresome you can take a full circle road past Whistler to Pemberton, on to Lilloett, Cache Creek and down the Fraser Canyon via Hope where you will join up with the Trans Canada Highway back to Vancouver.

Harrison Hot Springs:

On Harrison Lake down Trans Canada Highway towards Abbotsford.

Besides Whistler/Blackcomb, there are 4 mountains within view of downtown Vancouver. Cypress Mtn, north of West Vancouver, Grouse Mtn, north of North Vancouver, and Seymour Mtn are all on the north shore while Mt. Baker lies to the south in Wash USA (require passport)
