Science Versus Blind Faith

Is it possible In this highly technical age to believe in God and in the literal accuracy of the Bible?

What about materials that look like massive scientific evidence to the contrary?

What do we say to the scoffers who accuse us of having "blind faith"?

Can we reconcile our faith in God and the Bible with science?

I would like to share with you that over the years I have talked with many people who scoff at the Bible and believe in evolution. With few exceptions, I have found them to be the ones who in fact have a "blind faith" approach to their beliefs on evolution…

Typically their response is: "my mind is made up, don't confuse me with facts".

Most of them have accepted at face value what high school, college textbooks and TV nature shows say on this subject.

Most of these people believe everything they have heard from eminent scientists like Carl Sagan and other highly visible proponents of evolution. After all, aren't scientists’ completely unbiased and free from presuppositions?

In fact most individuals have done very little, if any personal research into the scientific data behind their beliefs.

In my time it has been my privilege to have completed a great deal of personal research on the subjects of creation –versus- evolution… and to investigate the historical and scientific accuracy of the Bible. In fact I have found that there is an overwhelming amount of hard scientific evidence that confirms intelligent creation and discredits atheistic evolution.

I have also found there is an overwhelming amount of archaeological, historical, and scientific evidence that shows the Bible to be historically and scientifically accurate. In places where the Bible is metaphorical or allegorical, this can be determined from the text.

There are now thousands of scientists with advanced degrees - who have had to discard the evolutionary theory as scientifically untenable. Conversely there have also been hundreds of people from many disciplines who have set out to discredit the accuracy of the Bible! To my knowledge not one single historical or scientific error in the Bible has been proven! In fact many of those seeking to discredit the Bible's accuracy have themselves become Christians - because of the evidence they have uncovered.

Many debates have taken place at well known universities between creation and evolutionary scientists ~ the results usually being lopsided in favour of creation science. I have seen video tapes of two of these debates… and I was quite embarrassed for the evolutionary scientists. For the most part they presented diatribes against religion - or used discredited ideas like embryonic recapitulation in presenting their case.

The following quote is typical of how many evolutionists approach the subject of creation: "These "creation-science" textbooks, if allowed in our schools, can only serve to increase that mental anguish by teaching that the Genesis gibberish is a legitimate scientific theory." (G. Richard Bozarth, "The Meaning of Evolution", American Atheist, 20 Sept. 1979, p. 19).

What I find fascinating is that scientists like Carl Sagan and Isaac Asimov have refused to publicly debate any of the creation scientists. This makes me wonder what they feared? You would think they would have jumped at such a chance?

My own personal research has included the following: Plain and simple logic - Mathematical probability - Philosophy - Historical and documentary evidence and Archaeological evidence. I have also studied and researched many of the specific scientific disciplines including astronomy, geology, chemistry, biology, palaeontology, physics and others.

For anyone truly interested in a rational scientific approach to these questions, I would recommend the following references as a starting place for personal research. The bibliographies in the listed books will lead to original documents, other books, and lists of creation scientists holding advanced degrees. These will lead to a multitude of research papers available in various libraries in the United States and around the world…

Summary

I've found that scientific evidence when viewed with an open mind confirms the existence of God and the accuracy of the Bible.

As Christians, we don't need to fear science ~ remember that it was God who created everything in the first place, including all the scientific laws. In fact most of the early scientists who discovered these laws were Christians. The reason they could even discover these laws is that they believed God had created a logical and orderly universe. Evolutionists have to work extremely hard to find a way to rationalise away all the evidence for God that is so very obvious.
