An aircraft navigates
to its destination by accurately following an unseen course in the sky.
This course is interpreted by instruments so that pilots can fly On
Course.
Similarly we are allotted a certain amount of
time and space which defines our life span. We know the starting point but we don't know the end.
God provides us with instruments and a manual - the Bible, to guide
us on the way.
What we do with this finite
resource of life is crucial. Life is a gift and we
have to make account to God for the way we use
it. Here are the
final conclusions of a few well known men of history:
Socrates:
"All of the
wisdom of this world is but a tiny raft upon which we must set sale
when we leave this earth. If only there was a firmer foundation upon
which to sail, perhaps some divine word".
Napoleon:
I die before my
time and my body shall be given back to the earth and devoured by worms.
What an abysmal gulf between my deep miseries and the eternal kingdom of
Christ. I marvel that whereas the ambitions and dreams of myself and of
Alexander and of Caesar should have vanished into thin air, a Judean
peasant - Jesus - should be able to stretch his hands across the centuries,
and control the destinies of men and nations"
Sigmund Feud:
"The meager
satisfaction that man can extract from reality leaves him
starving".
By way of comparison, this is what Jesus said after
raising Lazarus from the dead in front of many witnesses:
"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he
dies and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe
this?"
There is only one way
God wants us to travel through life... and that is safely in
Christ... both
now and when our time on this earth is complete.
This way of God may be unseen, but it is as real as
the invisible air-route every pilot follows. "On
Course" is an instrument to navigating
the waypoints of life to our final destiny with God.
We are amongst those
who have been called to journey through life with this purpose: to
understand and know God and walk in his ways.
On
Course with God...
