Retreat Overview
This year's combined ILG retreat will be held over one and a half days to
provide quality time to draw closer to God and
commit the year to Him.
At the retreat we will be thinking through questions
like:
-
how
can we strengthen our faith walk in a tough world?
-
what
footprints are we leaving in the sand?
-
what
vision are we casting in 2012?
Please click here for a one page graphical overview of the retreat.
This weekend
we will have
a safe space as couples to hear from others about their journeys,
how they manage the stresses and challenges of family, work and faith. Too
often with the pressure of business and professional life our families are
the first to suffer. Why is this? What can be done about it? What can we
learn from others?
We all leave legacies at the various stages of our lives... in our school years, later
in youth work,
then home, church
and business. What are the vision and
legacies we want to leave for others in 2012?
Terry
Winters and Lindsay McMillan will be joining us on the weekend to
share their insights and learning... about serving God in a world where the
boundaries defining business, family, faith and service are increasingly
blurred and confused.
Terry is a seasoned Board Chairman and Company Director with over 30
years of international business experience. He is best known as the
visionary behind the formation of Optus Communications, Australia's
second largest telecommunications carrier and as the country's strongest
advocate of deregulation and restructuring of the Australian
telecommunication industry. Terry founded Link Telecommunications and
built it to over A$200 million in revenues. BellSouth Corporation
invested in Link in 1987 to form the partnership that led to the
creation of Optus in 1991. He subsequently served as the Chairman & CEO
of BellSouth Australia Limited and led the acquisition of cellular
licences and the establishment of the New Zealand operations.
Terry has been involved extensively in Charity Boards such as the
Multiple Sclerosis Limited and Opportunity International Network. He is
also Chairman of Netcomm Limited, Converge International, Intelledox Pty
Ltd, Australian Home Care Services Pty Ltd and is a director of Future
Fibre Technologies Pty Ltd, Many Rivers Microfinance Ltd and
SchneiderRAI.
Lindsay has been Chief Executive of Converge International since
May 2007. Converge provides corporate chaplaincy and employee support
services. With over 25 years’ experience in healthcare and community
services, at both executive and board levels, Lindsay has also delivered
senior consulting support to health care, disability, government and a
range of business interests.
Lindsay’s areas of specialization include business growth and
innovation, broadcasting, strategic development and relationship
management. His academic and leadership experience extends
internationally through publications and presentations. His passion is
about seeing individuals grow through the quality of their
relationships. In the end that is what counts!
Lindsay
is married to Elsa. They live in a church. In addition, they have two
daughters and three small grandsons. Lindsay is "Captain fun!"
What do we want to gain at the retreat?
-
a
renewed holistic vision for our lives as couples and families in 2012
-
new
insights on what is needed to grow this vision across the often
conflicting boundaries of family, work, church and personal
involvements.
We will
explore how we can enter 2012 with a sense of anticipation and joy by
engaging in conversations about:
-
how we
can enrich our relationships
-
how this change will be reflected
at home, work and church
-
how we
would like our friends and family to describe our legacies
-
how our
lives can bring pleasure to God.
The
retreat will include over the two days:
-
soul
food and bible reflection
-
conversation and personal stories
-
recreation and fellowship
-
prayer
-
stimulating
workshops
-
plenary
sessions with story telling
-
communion.
